RS2 handbrake, does it ever work?

Mine don't work and everything is new

Has anybody with an rs2 got a pic underneath where the cables connect to the handbrake itself?

We had issues getting the handbrake cables tight and had to space it out temporarily with nuts to get them semi tight so the sleeves were taught at the hub end.

There is a part number on the RS2 that is not on the S2 and I would like to see what it is, I've ordered one via Quattronutter hopefully but it would be good to see what it is?

It's called a pressure spring part number 8A0 711 369, there no picture in the family album of what it looks like?

when i go back home ill look it up. Handbrake does work and needs adjustment everey few thousand miles which requires taking off the rear wheels. Also refurbing the pads also helps. but overall if all parts are new, then it might just need adjusting to make it work.

it would have been easier to have found a different solution though, because it sucks even when it works for a while...

I am going to look into this. Mine is all new and adjusted correctly. its still bobbins.

Thing is a 911 is spot on. I recon the RS2 has a shorter length from the pivort so the cables are moved less, ok for the usual handbrake on the 80 but I bet incomparrison the Porsche lever is longer.

      Anyone with a 993 lever?

Mine also. I haven't spent too much time trying to get it right though with bigger fish to fry ATM. I hadn't noticed the spring before. Post a pic when it arrives pls.

Mine works after a good adjustment with Audi service manual.

I have had my RS 2 for 8 years, The hand brake has always be a pain !!! new parts ect

I normally just make it though the ITV, to make it work well I really need to pull the lever very hard and working on boats I have a strong grip !!

I have Been looking into other options, the only problem is the mounting, needs a bit of engineering I was thinking of something like this

If you do not have the spring then i understand you have problems But you have guaranteed.

Have all new parts in the rear but have not yet installed them yet
Had no problems with my handbrake before I took it apart.

Mine was working well on one side - it's been adjusted on the other side, seems to hold fine now but there's a couple of notches of 'slack' before it comes on. Is tightening it difficult? It's in for MOT on Tuesday, not sure if it will be OK like it is... hoping I don't need to get cats for it to pass either :mischeif:

I bought new OEM drilled RS2 rear discs, 2x cables, set if new OEM shoes, new drum springs and lived it all with a tiny bit of copaslip............... I can even put my clutch in, and lock the wheels up if I want!

Just adjust it nice and tight, but make sure the wheels still turn well, and after a little drive it's great once the new shoes are bedded in! :-)

Have anybody changed RS2 handbrake to another car's solutions? I know its not that simple but that RS2's handbrake has always been pain in the ***. So maybe making some bigger changes?
