    314mm Brake Disc Options

I think that the Zimmerman discs on my car need replacing. I don't want to run another set with the DS2500s as I've heard over the years that the two don't work too well together.

I've found the correct part number - Brembo 09.7728.11 (GSF told me they didn't exist ) - these are listed on Ebay @ £110 delivered.

Just wondering about genuine Audi prices and any other options? I don't want to run grooved as they eat brake pads (<2k out ofmy last set of DS2500s) and cheap drilled discs are for Saxos.

    TIA.

Brembos all the way. GSF stock them,
IIRC I paid about £100 for the pair.

OK, I'll try GSF again with the part number. Last time I tried they said they couldn't get them. I should have looked about but bought the Zimmermans, even though I wasn't happy. They now feel warped although being new they could be skimmed. Brembos it is, I'm running them on the rear. Another £100 to add to whatever it costs for the replacement tyres... track days are expensive. Luckily they're good fun. Need to sort brakes on my BMW too, they're not too healthy now either It's lucky that old cars are good fun otherwise I'd go madder.

Motorsport World sell Nitrac heavy duty discs. Anyone any experience with these? I think my 12 groove discs were Nitrac, they lasted well but ate pads with teh grooves. Sounded cool though

I couldnt get brembo's either, but Pete at quattro corrner got me a good price on some OE 314 discs, I run DS2500 and I'm very happy with the setup, no warping at all, the odd track day and 10k miles so far.

I bought Genuine Audi discs (new old stock from a stealer (warrington audi AFAIK) £10 the pair) they warped though with the red stuff pads, i think the discs are £170 normally. Dont reccommend either.
Brembos and DS2500s will be my next setup.

get the discs cryo treated before you sling them on.

The Nitrac heavy duty discs are billed as having been treated like this already... how much does cryogenic treatment cost?

Andy i can recommend DBA. they were very good for the subaru's which in general run stock brakes or 4 pots and the bigger discs.

cheaper than Ebay! I'll be sorting these out before another track day but what's on there will do for now as it's fine on the road. Good to know what way I'll be going though

also www.brakeparts.co.uk offer drilled and grooved discs for about £80 each IIRC, not sure what brand, but they usually only supply OEM quality stuff, i.e. ATE and the like, so worth a look maybe

Interesting, cheers. Having run grooved discs, they eat pads. Great on track but a little expensive on the road.

are this brembos exactly the same as in the pic? i now have disks that get the air from the other side (wheel side) and that is crappy as i have the rs2 brake deflectors that would perfectly feed this disks...

Not as bad as you might think. Frozen solid is the name of the company i've been pointed to before. i think they quoted me about 60 quid to do 5 rods and pistons. Decided against doing forged pistons though in case they distort because of the way they are made.

I think the more bits you do at once the cheaper it is.

Very interesting read all the science behind it. If you like that sort of thing.
