Joe only one I know of is the Quattro Gmbh brakes, but you try to get hold of a pair, or any info on them!! if you know anyone in Germany? ask them to go visit Quattro Gmbh for you and ask some questions. If you think they will cost anything less than a house mortgage, think again though ;-)

D'OH! I guess that means a set of brembo or mov'it rotors in the 360mm diameter will do the job...and I can find them locally.

      Thanks Martyn.

Joe are Mov-it rotors expensive over there? I may need a new set of rotors in the not too distant future. I need the 322 x 32 ones. Any idea of cost over there?

It might be easier to get them from Germany, no? I will check into it and see which tuners carry what. I know that we don't have the S2 here, so finding the correct rotor might be difficult...but I'll let you know.
I haven't researched them yet, but do they offer different hat heights, or a universal 5x112 hat and different brackets for their kits?
I'll find out and get back to you tomorrow!

          Cheers,

What about the brembo S8 345X30mm version or the 334X30mm passat/phaeton W8 discs as alternatives?

Martyn.....do you have a price/access to the W8 brakes out of interest...? Also what you planning brake wise with 332x32 then

            Cheers,

              David,
yes, those sizes are nice, but I'm looking for a two-piece light weight rotor...because a 345 or 360mm rotor must weigh a furking ton!

                Cheers Joe,

I'll have to measure the hat height. Sometimes the US can be cheaepr thats all!! Let me find the hat height and I'll pass it on.

The 345 + 334 discs, mmm nice! have you seen the Brembo set up on the Phaeton? 6 pistons and a front disc of 364 x 34mm LARGE!!!!

                Rotor weights:

                Stock S2 276mm: 16 pounds
                334mm W8 disc: 22 pounds
                364 Brembo: 28 pounds
                Mov-it 322: 18.7 pounds

                Caliper weights:
Stock S2 caliper weighs: 12.95 pounds
Mov-it calipers weigh: 10.12 pounds EDIT (WITH BRAKE PADS FITTED!!!!)
'Medium red!' as stock on RS2 weighs: 6.16 pounds! (this seems very light?)
'Big Red' weighs 8.14 pounds (this seems very light - maybe parts info is inaccurate)

Pads not included in weights. All weights taken from Audi parts info except the Mov-It which I have right next to me and was physically weighed.

Hey Martyn...those caliper and rotor weights sound accurate. My 996 calipers weigh a few ounces less then the Big Reds. I can't imagine how much HP you loose to the wheels by using a 28 pound rotor!
My next set of brakes, custom made, will have 6-pot calipers and some very large ~360mm rotor rings. I definitely want to keep the rotors under 20 pounds though...and definitely no larger. I have been looking at custom porsche cayanne sized rotors which would weigh in approximately 19.6-19.8 pounds if i've done my math correctly.
I'd love to make something with a 330mm brembo rotor ring and custom hats simply to keep it under a 17" wheel...something nice and light...however, there is a certain appeal to having 18" wheels and some huge 360mm rotors filling up the emptiness. I'll have to think about it.
Bigger is not always better when it comes to brakes...because too big of a rotor will weigh too much.

                        Joe,

I'm often told that the Posche Cayenne is the VW Touareg in drag (sorry..thats a Brit term ;-) I mean that Porsche use the VW Touareg and stick their bits on it. Now if that is true? then.......

The brakes on the Touareg (Cayenne?) on the 18" wheels are 350mm x 34mm Brembo's and boy are the rotors cheap for the size of them! Each rotor is 76 GBP from us, for a 350 x 34mm rotor!! the bad news.... they weigh 26.6 pounds per disc. From what I can work out, the hat height is 36mm

There is of course as always one down side, the bolt pattern is 5/130 shame because there is a set of rotors @ 330 x 32mm... oh well... back to your original plans...

EDIT TO MY WEIGHTS POST, the Mov it calipers, their weight above was WITH PADS FITTED!

Good info Martyn...The porsche hats are too deep for any of our applications anyway...it would put the rotor on the strut. The Touareg is a great looking SUV in my opinion. Also, the inside feels the quality of an audi. What's the PCB on the toureg wheels/rotors? is that 5x130 too?
Regarding rotors, we have the same problems trying to use any of the 5x112 mercedes rotors. A set from the new E55 would fit by bolt pattern, but the hats are tooooo deep. D'OH!
