Brake Upgrade 314mm with Boxster Calipers

    Hello!

I'have read much about that Upgrade with 314mm Discs from the Audi A8 and 996/Boxster Calipers in this Forum, but some Fakts i didn't found/understand.
    1. I want to have a small ridge (or edge?) like the oem brake systems, not a wide ridge (edge) what you can see often on customized brake systems. Is that possible with 314mm discs?
    2. What kind of brackets i have to take? I have read something about the RS2 brackets, but it seems that ii have to cut the calipers and i have read about customized seat cupra r brackets. what i have to customize?
    3. Can anybody give me some Pictures? I'm interested in Pictures of used Discs and a discription which parts you have installed.

    Thanks a lot.

    Best regards

    Björn

Look at "ultimot.de" for some background information, and others on here should reply tomorrow.

As you currently have 304 discs and s,mall reds /RS2 calipers, ultimot do a bracket to allow you to space out the small reds to the 312mm disc. Which I've done as a interim set up.

If I was doing it again I'd go straight to 323mm discs (Ideally separate disc and alloy bell if funds allowed) as the steel discs are heavy, but it is problaly not really that vital or significant in normal everyday driving, and a black coloured set of Porsche 996 calipers. Others will be able to give you the part numbers for the left and right in either black or red / and the model/years of the cars to get them from in the breakers over there.

323mm discs allows for 17inch rims to be used, and 323mm still look good behind 18" rims.

Bigger than 323mm can be a bit too much trouble, the 323mm conversion is tried and tested and is less hassle.

    Kind regards.

      Hi!

Ultimot uses the original RS2 Calipers for 314mm Upgrade. This i have installed allready. You could take the oem RS2 Brackets and customize the 314 Discs to 304mm, or you could take the 314 mm disks with ultimot brackets. But at the last option, you have a edge from 5mm at the disk where the brakepad don't use the disk. Look at my Picrure. I have installed the 304mm customized disk setup on my s2.

But i'm searching for an option, where i don't have to customize the disk and the hole disc is using by the pad, too.

      Look at my Picture!
I want an option where i don't have an edge with 314mm Discs. Is this possible to realise with the Boxster Calipers?

323mm are not an Option! I want to take my 16" Wheels! I only want to know my questions about Boxster/996 Calipers.
The Options with RS2 Calipers i know allready.

      Thanks

        Björn,

I now appreciate what you're asking.

        I can't answer your question.

We both need to wait for a higher authority to advise us.

        Kind regards.

          Yes

'Bambridge' on this forum makes a bracket for the 996/Boxter S front calipers and 314 x 30mm disc which fits perfectly, with pad centred on the disc, fits inside 16" Avus wheels (probably not 3B 16" wheels though) and no machining required for discs or brackets - a small amount of grinding required on part of the caliper.

I posted a couple of pictures HERE but they hadn't been on the car long so you can't see exactly where the disc wears yet.

          - Bambridge's brackets for 314mm discs - supplied with new bolts for calipers and hub carrier.
          - 996 (non turbo) or Boxster S front calipers (& pads of course) - the 4 pad 'guide pins' on each caliper should be ground down about 1mm because the calipers are intended for 28mm wide discs so end up very close to the 30mm discs.
          - 314 x 30mm audi discs
          - Brake lines to reach the calipers - either RS2 or custom made hard lines or custom braided lines. You probably will not need these if you already have RS2 calipers installed.

No spacers required. I thought I may need to remove the wheel balancing weights because the caliper has about 4mm clearance from the wheel but I didn't need to with where they are on my wheels.
If the weights are in the way you can take them off and get the wheels rebalanced with the weights in a different place where they dont interfere.

Edit: I think spacers are required if using the early 16" wheels from the 3b S2 - ABY avus 16" wheels are ok with no spacers.
