After a spin in my sons clio RS, I now no how bad s2 brakes realy are.So its time for an upgrade,I have done a search and can see that the 996 calipers are very popular but I would like to know what you all think is the one to choose.I want an package that is fairly easy to fit,not to exspensive to maintain and for road use only.
Any addvise would be apprecited.
I'm on the 996s and for road use, they're spot on. Tried and tested, not too expensive (compared to bigger options) and not overkill for day to day, while still good enough to properly anchor up when you need to.
The stock S2 ones are dire, so I think you'll be pleased by the upgrade.

The only issues you'll have with 996s is that they can ring/hum a bit, no idea why but it does happen periodically, usually means that they need a quick clean up. Other than that, for a setup that sits under 6 spoke Avus 16s with no mods, they work well, as anyone who's been in my car on track will testify!
Get plain Brembo discs and match them up with either Textar for road use, Mintex 1144/55 for fast road use or DS2500/3000 for track use.
HTH.

Nope... I ain't Andy (!), but I find the DS2500 to have much better bite than the Textars even under normal road use, however I'm running them on 365mm two-piece Porsche cross drilled rotors.
