If you replace the brake lines I would use some cunifer/cupric/copper nickel or whatever they are called brake lines. Easy to shape by hand or with a little pipe bender and shouldn't rust the way steel ones do. Cheap as well.
Brake nuts, wire brush followed by penetrating spray, preferably as few days before you actually intend to work on the car. Then a good quality brake spanner and hope. Depending which bit of the line you are replacing you can also cut the line close to the nut so you can get a 6 point socket on the nut.
And there is always molegrips. (good ones can yield surprising results if you can close them hard enough and the nut does not taper)
I feel your pain though, go to change one flexi and end up at the master cylinder praying one nut will finally undo.
Yep a right pita to do, after several attempts I nearly failed to undo mine except I saw a post here about freeze spray to undo exhaust nuts, so I used some freeze spray and wd40 and I was able to open them.
If anyone wants to earn extra funds by making up new shaped metal brake pies for S2, I feel there'd be a big queue. I'd be first in line.
Always the job I hate on my B4s, because they're always seized solid. And the brass nut always rounds off.
Anyone any comments or tips ?
What 11mm brake spanner do you recommend?
Thanks.
What are you at now It only took me a few minutes to make them up for mine using the flaring tool, you can buy new fittings on ebay if you have to butcher up the old ones to get them off, i might even have a few left over.
