    Mov'it brake discs...help!

Just looked and i think im going to put some new pads and discs in (to my banks dislike)

does anyone know where i can buy just the discs without the brake bell? And how much they are?

    i assume they're the 322 discs

You need to have a good look at the bells as they can fail through corrosion. AFAIK Corey had Bainbridge make copies of the caliper mounts and bells so you could get a new set if needed from him.

Disc's are 993 tt as far as i remember. A search here will give you the exact part number. They're about £120 each.

993-351-045-10 and 993-351-046-10 are the part numbers for 993tt discs I think you are after. they come with the Porsche bells but they can be changed over try a place called Berlyn services they were the cheapest place in the uk online a couple years ago when I was looking for some .

Just spoke to qst... 340 per disc!! Berlyn are about 180 so not to bad in comparison.

My current discs still have a fair bit of meat in them but a bit wavey... has anyone ever skimmed their discs? Worth doing?

If they're drilled then they go a bit wavy with radial rings, as they wear.

I realise this, it's just the pads are scrap and don't want to put new expensive pads on worn discs

From my experience they do worp quite easy. I have had a pair skimmed once which did the job ok until they worped again. When skimmed in a lathe it leaves a chequered flag pattern on the surface as the tool drags through the cross drillings . Ideally if getting them machined flat you would get them surface ground like they do with flywheel as there is most likely going to have places where hot spots are and the metal will have gone rock hard and the tool bit used in the lathe would struggle to cut it properly resulting in a uneven surface.

Be careful when sourcing from the aftermarket. Suppliers started to supply discs suitable for the various Porsche models as one piece with an integral cast iron bell rather than the two piece. Obviously not a problem for the Porsche models but a PITA for those expecting to unbolt the disc from the hub!
So I guess it would be wise to ask the quaestion from the supplier whether they are retailing one or two piece discs!

Just to confirm, the Porsche 993 pads will fit in the movit calipers?

I think the calipers mov it use are the big reds from the 993tt so have a look round for part numbers
