    Brembo Adapters

I've picked up a set of Brembo calipers in need of a refurb. I was wondering if the mounting brackets for the 996/986 calipers were the same?

Yea your right totally different. I removed the standard caliper today to see what it was like in relation to my Brembos and I mounted one of the Brembos in the lower stock mounting hole. I then went to try bolting up the top one and found that the Brembo mounting hole was only about 1.5cm over the standard mounting bracket.

Not tight in this picture but it should show what I mean.

Is there any way I could make a bracket to fit them? I thought of making the standard holes bigger and putting a nut on the back but there isn't enough space. I also thought of welding another mounting hole on top of the standard one. Would this work? Apart from that the calipers seem to sit great. They are central and the disk is spaced centrally.

Maybe this will explain it better.

Would it be possible to drill another hole in the caliper in the correct place?

No, you will need a bracket made up to mount those calipers. You have to watch for disk size and offset too. So you might have to get different brake disks.

How does the offset of the A8 disks compare to the standard ones?

I am not sure, I think its the same but the caliper bracket moves the caliper into the correct position for that disc.

                You are joking right?
