Arghhh. Now that's a can of worms on T85 chassis, I've had too much beer to explain the options. However it's not straight forward.

Best bet is polity ask Tonkys advice, unless anyone else pipes up.

Hmm, just noticed you say 1989 CQ, is it a B3 Coupe??? In which case things are much, much more straight forward.

You should be able to get away with your legs, just be aware when ordering your shocks as B3 and early S2's have 50mm diameter legs and the later S2's are 55mm.

But everything else should be bolt on bolt off.

Front struts are optional, however the spring perch and upper spring perch are slightly wider on the S2. You can fit S2 springs into your struts but they just dont hold them as tight as they should. The nice thing about the 50mm struts is the Koni shocks are top adjustable.

As for brakes i would go with the tried and tested 996/A8 setup. But, is your car still 4 stud hubs? If so your going to have to get creative with disks as i am not aware of any direct bolt on replacements.

If you are going to change to 5 stud you might have to change the front hub carriers, and possibly the outer CV joints if it was originally a 10v car, 20v car's used the larger carrier/front wheel bearings as the S2. Also note there are two different sizes of front strut to carrier bolts, cq20v and early S2 had smaller bolts.

I ran all sorts of suspension combo's on mine and finally ended up with 5 stud hubs, and ABY struts and front carriers. IMO make the switch to 5stud/larger struts before spending any money on shocks etc.

Mark's advice is good. 5 stud hubs are not cheap, expect to pay 150 - 250 depending on condition. ABY struts fifty quid upwards depending on condion
