any ideas on a caliper thats a straight fit and better than the one fitted which had seized changed the seals now it wont hold bled three times now, still no joy. Im guessing when the wife who was trying to help me at the time depressed the brake pedal when i had just taken the caliper off and the piston flew out might of caused this , it was working up until then.

you can upgrade to 280mm ventred discs at the rear using URs4 calipers but its not a cheap upgrade. You can exchange your dodgy caliper for a rebuilt one at GSF for about £80. Also, if you ask me very nicely Ray, I have a spare brand new piston for a rear caliper
You need to bleed the caliper with the handbrake off, and try bleeding the whole brake system not just the corner you're on mate

S8 rear calipers can also be made to work, as can B6 S4 rears with some messing with the handbrake cables

Cheers for the offer of the new piston m8 i also had a new piston from a refurbed caliper that came with the car i fitted the piston and new seals and bled all sides with the handbrake off the only thing i didn,t do was after retracting the piston all the way in and fitting new pads i forgot to wind the piston out until the pads were just touching the disc before doing everything up could this be the problem? im going for the rear upgrade with B5 Rs4 calipers/discs/and hubs straight fit by all accounts.

                  cheers.

A guy on nogsport found a source for refurbished rear caliper for a cq for £29

The 280mm rear upgrade is nice.
