    Hydraulic system... again!

Been a rather crap week with the S2...

While trying to track down a strange noise, I emptied the servo by pumping the pedal. I now have the pulsating pedal problem and can't get the system to charge at all. I've tried a fluid flush but to no avail. Bomb is fairly new so I'm guessing the servo, which is original. Just before I tear my hair out changing the servo over in the next few days, any hints or tips getting it to not be shagged?

To make thisngs even crappier, the stereo has stopped working too

      Cheers Jeffer

Nothing like a 3hr chick flick to give the brain time to plan a job on the car

Decided to just get on with the servo change (I've had a spare sat around for ages and have put it off in fear of it being a pig), so planned it in my head and started this morning, thinking it may well be a long haul type of thing as access is tight and I was nervous about the hydraulic lines... Anyway, 1.5 hours later, a lot of pain a swearing and a bit of speed mechanicing has got me a perfect feeling brake pedal! Woop woop. Just got to put the dash tray in and reset the stereo (it's a Kenwood stealth jobbie and the face can move, stopping it turning back to normal).

So just a new cat and the MOT to go then

        Rusty,

Not sure if this post is too late.

I’ve had this pulsating pedal on my ABY when it’s been laid up for a while, and while I knew all of the parts were fresh it still did it, and so was contemplating buying a new bomb for it.

In the mean time I drove it daily for a week or two and it suddenly came right and gives no more trouble.

I presume if I have it off the road again for a while it will start the same messing, with the same cure.

It either self bleeds itself or the air lock goes to a point it doesn’t impact upon the operation of the system. I don’t really know.

        HTH a bit.

        Kind regards.

Good job getting it sorted! Do you only have a single CAT on the car?

Mine has been like that for years and has gradually taken longer to pressurise. Servo seals get my vote.

Single cat on there - see my thread on my exhaust.
