ABS engaging while coming to a full stop

    Guys,

Recently the ABS has begun engaging when my RS2 comes to a full stop at the lightest pedal pressure.

The symtom is similar to what I've experienced with my 1997 A4 years ago, and all it needed was to clean the ABS sensors with a brake cleaner.

I poped off the sensors and throughly cleaned, yet the ABS still kicks in. Where should I look further to investigate?

What are the sensor/ring clearances like? Any cracks in the ring?
Mine had this with too much clearance between the two.

Is it possible to get fault codes from an rs? I know 3B's you can't.

Very common on the these cars is the front ABS rings to crack/split. I currently have an ABS ring waiting to go on the front left of my car after having to repalce the front right with the same problem earlier in the year, lol.

Is it ABS rings on the rear of the car, and the outer shell of the cv's on the front ?

TBH I find more often it is just a build up of crud and corrosion on the teeth, normally taking them out and a good going over with a wire brush sorts it
AFAIK the teeth are integral to the CV joint housing on all the OEM joints, never seen a separate ABS ring so if you have one its aftermarket and probably chinese crap.

Does anyone know of a way of testing for which sensor/ring is playing up on the earlier cars(pre 1993 I think),on the later cars it is generally shown as a code on vagcom(at least when a ring is damaged/rotten).Would save a lot of work not having to take them all off one by one

I wonder whether that will work if the ring is faulty/rotten/cracked etc?
