    Daft newbie hydro question

On my particular project (VW T3 bus, getting a 2.6 7A motor) I would really like to move/remove the vac servo and was thinking about going hydro...before you all say Noooo! Don't do it! there is a reason:

To gain some space behind the instrument pack so I can fit a 90Q instrument set. The T3 is weird in that the servo/master cyl points at the driver, inside the cabin, but it's hard up behind the clocks. It's a nightmare for anyone looking to upgrade the cruddy late 70's VW instrument pack, only the really late ones are slim enough to fit, but they look all wrong in my eyes.

I got hold of a 7A PAS pump and bomb, then thought oh crap it's a mineral oil system. That'll destroy my rack seals. Went to drain the dregs from the 7A pump and the oil is red and looks like ATF or similar. Is this right?

Was there a change from the green stuff to red at some point with later coupes?

If the whole thing is a non-starter then I'm looking to find a twin-circuit remote vac servo but all serches so far have turned up nothing.

All this just to change the clocks!
Working...
