Lou,
I believe that code is for the relay that controls the solenoid valve. Of course it could be either a wiring fault to that relay or the relay itself. Not sure what type of ABS unit you have but if its the early one, under the plastic cover with ABS on it are two relays. One is for the return pump and the other is the for the solenoid valves. Info I have is:
4A0 927 841 - relay 4 pin
4D0 927 843 - ABS unit relay 4 pin.
Unfortunately its not clear which is which but I would say the 4D0 one sounds right. They look to be common on Audi models so it might be possible to substutute one if the part numbers match up. Other than that as they are 4 pin it should be possible to test them to see that they are switching!
If you have a full Vag com I thing you can test them via the ABS blocks. Think its channel 6 and 7! -
Is this any help? Not sure whether you have this one or the earlier set up!Attached FilesComment

No problem!
Although I will also say according to the parts catalogue that cover is not available as a spare part and it does not list the fixing! Its pretty inaccessable, so it would have been a good idea to know what head the fixing used.Comment

Lou,
Just spent some time trying to get a good look at the ABS block on my A6. I cannot tell what the fixing is/was as it has rusted. It's also very difficult to see how or what that plate covers. Just wondering if someone who has broken either an S6 or A6 and has that ABS block on the shelf can have a better look at it. Its very difficult to see in situ!Comment

Although I have a lowly 2WD A6, there is a measuring block in Vagcomfor both those relays. It reports either 0 or 1 for either relay. Oddly its 0 for the return and 1 for the solenoid! Irrespective of that it does seem you can use Vagcom to verify that voltage is present.
As I have been fidlding about, there does appear to be a fuse for the ABS in the fuse box on the side of the dash. Can't remember if you have checked that or not!Comment
