On a side note to this, does anyone know which S8 pads are required for this upgrade?

Strangely enough the later S8 pads are shorter (53mm) than the early (66.9mm) ones? Even though the carriers are bigger.

The part number I've found in other threads is 1J0 698 451L, does anyone know the dimensions of these pads? I've found dimensions here but not sure whether to trust them.

Pretty sure I've solved this for myself, I do have the right pads.

Colesy what part number have you used for the rear discs? I've spoken to my local TPS and given them this part # from S2 Centrals.net upgrade info page 300x22mm rear disc from neu S4 - part number = 8E0 615 601R (2-off) and they say that number is for a Passat measuring 240x15mm ? The guys there are really helpful and are looking into it for me, but thought I'd also ask here..

You need the 300mm x 22mm x 68 bore x 36 height Audi S4 2004-2008 rear discs. Not sure of the official Audi part number, they were also fitted to the rear of some A4's of the same era.

Just been thinking when the discs have had 20mm removed from them. This will leave the edge of the disc "bare" so to speak, would there be anything wrong in spraying the edge with a zinc spary to give a layer of protection, something along the lines of galvafroid? Bare untreated metal + UK weather = Rust...

Couldn't hurt, as they are bound to get rusty, would it be ok with the heat though?
