Brakes anyone had this problem ?

    Anyone had this ?

When braking from speed my steering starts to wobble, I can also hear my hydralic pump working over time, I have changed the pump a while back problem went away for a few weeks then came back

I have never heard of anyone else with this problem seem strange the second pump should fail in the same way

    Any feed back well come

Wobble is discs. Pump noise could be failing servo - feels like ABS kicking in.

      No wobble is not discs

Pump noise the hard and longer the braking period the more the noise, this is high speed braking

Not sure about servo as braking power feels ok, but I am wonder why the pump is working so hard

The steering wobble is related to to the pump working over time as the rack and brakes are powered from the same pump

Wobble can also be caused by sticking/seizing calipers.

          Rebuilt callipers, new discs

This problem started a while back first thought it was the discs changed them

          Then rebuilt callipers

          Balanced wheels

Then reviewed it all two more times, then started looking else where

As stated in earlier posts changed pump problem went away only to return

Under hard braking he pump makes a loud whiring noise as if it is working over time, this is the second pump i have tried it was working fine on the car it came from

are the discs seated on the hub 100%?.....

            are you running standard brakes?

is the pump powered by the power steering pump or am i thinking of something else? if so could you not remove the belt and try the brakes, obviously i realise there will be no assistance but surely it will rule out warped discs, badly seated etc etc

The problem has nothing to do with discs, hubbs, wheels all these thing have been rule out long ago

it related to the hydralic system, steering pump, servo or booster but i am wondering what could cause the pump to fail so Quickly again and why it is running under so much load

when the the brakes are load up i start to get feed back through the steering coming from the pump

Surely this must be bomb related if powersteering is affecting the brakes?

I know you say you've checked the discs etc but have you run a clock on them to check?

I have to sets of discs both have been on the lath twice all faces checked

The bomb is quite new it came from autocraft but maybe that could be where the problem is

Thanks for the feedback, I will try a new bomb

If you search recent posts you'll find I had brake wobble recently.

My discs had been reskimmed. When I measured them on the car, one had about 2mm of run out but of course could have clocked perfectly on a lathe. New discs...problem solved. Cheapest and easiest thing to try!

Is the vibration quite violent at high speed and slows down with speed?

It would also give you the feedback you're experiencing in the pedal
