handbrake cable change on A6 quattro

I was thinking of doing this myself in the drive but being Quattro should I just get a garage to do it?

    Opinion welcome

Depends how big your hands and wallet are. Big hands and big wallet = garage, small hands and small wallet = DIY

Here are some hints and info (watch for the the rear brake DIY link):

If only I'd found that guide before doing mine
An hour passenger side to learn it n get off rounded bolts, 15 minutes drivers side!
Rubber boots on sliders needed replacing, didn't come with new calipers and so stealers r*ped me for £23 for 4 boots, no local suppliers would/could supply in their own

If you have a spare hour it should be straightforward. Same as usual stuff may be seized though.

Jack, axle stands, socket set, flat screwdriver, deep socket for the adjustment nut.

        Roughly

        Jack up
        rr wheels off
remove the heatsheild above the exhaust/prop to access the handbrake yoke
slacken adjuster nut (you may be able to lever it out the caliper without but it makes life easy)
        unhook cables
remove handbrake cable clip from caliper
        lever handbrake cam
        remove cable from caliper
remove cable from clips under the car

Fit new cables and adjust handbrake to taste, I prefer a bit more movement as less prone to seizing.
