    Diff lock disable @ 15mph

My avant has been just amazing in the snow over the last few days, and the road to my street is roughly 1in3 (uphill towards home, but 'T' junction at start of hill, so no run-up possible). The diff lock has, I'm sure, been very helpful- up to the point when it switches off at 15mph. Altho I don't want to disable this Factory Setting, my question is- whilst travelling at, say, 12mph and for instance one of the front wheels start to lose traction and spin, even tho the Road Speed is still 12mph, could/should the system switch off? Or does the Speedo/ABS Ecu read road speed as an average of all 4 ABS Sensors (As on my Espace).
    Just curious.
    Anyone know?

It does not use ABS sensors to read road speed. Difflock uses the same speed signal as anything else that needs it (cruise, climate, ATD, radio).

it is easy to disable the auto turn off. just snap the blue/white wire from the ecu under the rear bench. you cant engage it by mistake as the button needs to be pressed in quite deep. i had it disabled for year with no accident...

it is also cool to be able to disengage the ABS at will

I know this isn't what you asked but... if you want to stop the diff lock turning off then go under the rear seat and snip the blue and white wire heading to the ABS ECU

          Thanks All!
I may just snip that B/W cable, and put a bullet connector in it, so that it can be re-connected at any time.

Mate on our local forum did very cool mod to difflock button - if you just press it, it works as normal (diff locks and 15mph limit is active), but if long-press it, diff locks and limit is disabled.
            Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=nyo5ah1llqk
red light indicates locked diff and disabled limit.

Is there not a 'spam tin' appearenced unit with an electrical connector attached to it under the rear seat...just unclip it...no need to cut any wires and this will disable the Diff lock function on certain quattro's

Exactly what I have done. TBH though, once you're moving, the diff lock can be more of a pain than a plus, as it either causes under or over steer whereas the open diff is more forgiving.
