    The Saga Continues!

Ive been having problems again since replacing my pads with vibrations and noises so I got in touch with B G Development who supplied the kit with AP's help designing the parts who said there is probably a sticky patch on the disc so I went ona bit of a road trip on sat to daventry to get my boot carpets off of Mike (cheers) and had a quick peek at the rally cars at david sutton cars. Some very nice sport quattro's in there so worth a look if you get a chance.

Back to the point. Got to bromsgrove at just gone 12 and took the wheels and discs off and put the discs on the grinding machine. One disc did have a 'sticky patch' but the other didnt but they had small ridges on them. The grinding wheel moved across and the amount that was getting ground off fluctuated back and forth.

Anyway, being optimistic I was hoping this would sort the problem out. Got them back on the car and went up the road. Great it seems fine, drove back to B G to let them know and as I pulled up it didnt it again so now AP have goto take a look and possibly re design the kit. Within 5 miles of leaving the vibration and noise were back to how it was

Just got back from coventry where I have been upto AP racing to see Pete Collen who designed the kit for the S2, he was telling me it was modified from the audi A4 kit, the only difference for the carriers was a 1mm different offset so its probably quite easy to use parts from the A4 kits if needs be. Anyway we got my brakes apart and checked them over in every aspect and went for a drive to replicate the problem and it is sods law as with these intermittment faults. Today wasnt the day for the fault so no noises or anything which was very fustrating for me since it made a couple of squeaks on the way home, but far better than it was. Got a little tour of the factory too and the different test rigs they have for testing clutches, brakes, master cylinders etc and some of the products they make.

Took a look at the new 8 pot calipers from the Bugatti and they were enormous and weigh a ton, then had a look at the McLaren F1 teams brake caliper from last season. Very impressive, mae almost entirely from carbon fibre and has every last bit of weight taken out of it yet it was still a 6 pot caliper. Even had air ducts around each piston with the whole caliper weighing in at 160g include the sensors for brake wear and temp etc. Yours for a mere £8500 each!!!

Was worth the drive up just to have a look around and a chat to Pete who is extrememly knowledgable when it comes to brakes and clutches

took at look at the F1 clutches which are dog legged, think thats right. But i was amazed how small they were, probably about 75-80mm in diameter and 60mm tall including the flywheel!! tiny little things, but with F1 cars they are all HP and no torque so they dont need massive clutches. Not very practical for road cars because of the way in which they wear and need adjustment.

Hopefully my brakes are sorted enough for now so I will see how I get on with them now. He also noticed that my bells have been made quite thick when it wasnt needed but this has helped put my wheels back to a perfect offset since they are 35mm and not 37mm so im not as close to the steering arm now.

            Looks GREAT!!!

A tuner near my house sells the same brakes.
Going to ask him the price and see if I can convince him to give me some discount
