Abs/brake Help

So Iv had the cv boots changed and upon return there's a grinding noise from the brake pedal along very poor braking. The pedal is as normal, not harder or softer. If you brake hard it will slow down slowly and after a split second the brakes will bite really hard. Almost like abs kicking in.

Similar characteristics to a hose pipe that's got a kink in it and then suddenly opens up to allow fluid through.

Abs light is not on.... In the meantime Iv pulled the abs fuse and all is well.

Any ideas of what maybe the cause?

The abs sensor has been disturbed on the wheel/s you've worked on, had the same thing on my b5.5 passat years ago - refitted it & all was ok

Sounds like disturbed sensor or damaged/clogged teeth on the cv joint.

Can't say my ears are in tune to give you that answer but you can feel the pedal vibrating too.

If the sensor is disturbed would that flag up the ABS light? As nothing comes up...

No - not in all cases

All sorted, it was indeed a disturbed sensor
