Don't know about your car but on the S2 it is something wrong with the hydraulics. This can be the "bomb" not having enough pressure or not having enough brake or power steering fluid. Paul's www.s2central.net gives some good guidance.

My s4 plays silly ******s too, may be sensors or dash
I fitted new pads all round , passed mot, 2 weeks later and the brake pad low
warning comes up
Did it every week on and off tilli changed the dash
Check pas pump etc for leaks before rushing to replace the bomb
I thought bomb on my coupe on Sunday when it flashed
Took engine cover off next day when I had more time and it's the pump leaking
Mine did this but just needed the level sensor cleaned for the brake fluid or maybe power steering cant remember. Basicly It was damp and caused a signal to get back so the dash thought fluid was low.
possible wheel speed sensor/abs sensor on the hub check the plugs and wiring in the wheel arch then check the wheel bearings are tight and no play as this can cause the relucter ring on the c.v. joint to hit the sensors mounted on the hub assembly.
still no joy get the car plugged into a diagnostic computer via the obd socket under the the dash
I used to get similar problems if the PAS fluid level is too high. Also diagnosed on mine recently that it is the check valve in the brake accumulator, aka bomb which isnt working right so will need replacing
I pulled the multi pin plug off the ABS pump and found the two largest pins on the socket were broken and were stuck in the female end of the connector.
I'm guessing the pins are moulded in to the plastic? Is there anyway to bypass the two pins that are broken and hard wire them from the ABS pump to the abs control unit?
OR maybe fit some new pins in to the ABS pump?
If not, does anyone have a good working ABS pump they can sell me? OR is it possible to take the black half/electrical side of the ABS pump off, and fit a new one? or maybe have the old one repaired?
My MOT is up today so i'm in need of a solution ASAP As it will surly fail the test if the ABS light is on. :/
