School me on HP2 brakes (please)

Had a look at my 94 C4 UrS4 ABH (V8) avant's front HP2 brakes again today as I finally took my winter wheels (Avus) and tyres (Pirelli Wintersports) off today. There is still some pad there but I should get at it soon.

The question I thought about asking was, what was the original colour of the C4 UrS4 HP2 caliper? I would like to clean and paint mine when I change the brake pads.

Dave, on my UrS6 which was / is mint in relation to the front brakes, mine were black, but not paint, but a type of raw cast iron black finish, no rust on them. Probably need to examine them in more detail to be sure.

The car has black chrome - Having said that, probably not relevant.

I converted my fathers S4 to HP2, basically just dropped in a complete S6 strut and caliper assembly. I literally threw red paint at them so don't judge

Red I would spray *IF* I wanted red calipers.
