Whilst we're on about monoblocs..... no doubt you've seen the ads in magazines for brembo big brake upgrade kits at 'introductory prices' from red dot racing.

Thought I'd just share what the guys there told me.
      Basically kits from £650
Told me they used their own disks, bells, brackets and brembo calipers.... supposedly monobloc calipers just like the porsche ones.
I already have a bremsport kit so was thinking about upgrading just the calipers. They quoted £300 for a pair of calipers (300-330mmx28) inc vat & pads & hoses.
Then £150 for a pair of one off mounting brackets
So by deduction I guess they were charging £200 for the disks and bells.

But for what its worth they were not actually what brembo describe as monoblocs.... see below (ie bolts holding the two halves together)

The brembos they were offering do however have internal crossover tubes so who knows which are better?

If anyone wants to see more, the members on www.scoobynet.co.uk (brembo post) have recently been doing a group buy from there & there are loads of pictures in the general comments forum.....

Sorry corey hope I haven't trodden on your toes here but it'd be interesting to see what kit you have on offer here....

No problem, you pays ya money, you take ya chance.

Considering the money that Porsche/Brembo have invested in their Monoblock technology (defense budget type amount), I know what calipers I would rather use.
All I am saying is you have another option.
Where else on the planet can you get monoblocks for under £800, with everything you need (except the car and brake fluid), and the knowledge of dealing with a truly handsome character

        >How much for this kit fitted? And where abouts are you?

All I can say if yours are proper porsche monoblocs is - WOW!

I won an e-bay auction for 996 / Boxster S calipers last week for £250.
So again probably too late for me but can you do custom brackets given the dimensions? and out of what material?

Personally I thought the Red Dot kits looked a little naff - but thats just the Porsche Snobbery in me coming about though

@Corey - yeah i had to use the wheel spacers as i have the old five spoke wheels and the Hi-spec kit wont clear these wheels (it was designed for the later wheels) they are only five mil thick but it is still a bit of a pain.

            Just wish you posted earlier!!!

I would have bought a kit, sorry dude.

Tom, let me know about prices etc. - especially if you can get them trade as I'd also be interested in a set.

                Tom

I asked about seals when I got the kit and Geoff said that they use standard square cut seals that can be bought from seal suppliers. They buy them in and basically sized the piston to fit what seals were avaiable.

But, let me know on a price as well

I just heard about a cheap option too... Seat Ibiza cupra R has the brembo calipers as in Alistair's image. They are very, very cheap at the dealers. Only 152e ~ £100 each!

Someone could check that out at some uk dealer to confirm...

porkkis....sorry already checked that one - as soon as you go for disks bigger than 25mm things get expensive - see previous post but costs as follows:

                    Seat Cupra R calipers:

                    for 17" wheel - 312 x 25mm £95 +VAT (10% off for trade)
                    for 18" wheel - 323 x 28mm £258 + VAT (10% off for trade)

the 323mm calipers come complete with pads etc.
                    Prices are for single calipers.

Yep, your right m8, plus another thing 25mm thick discs aren't enough. You need at least 30mm really to dissipate all the heat.

Of course it depends on driving style but the standard AP kit designed by their own engineers uses 28mm thick disks and they had the choice of..... well, alot!

PS I'm just trying to defend the fact that my kit uses 28mm disks too.....!

It depends on what you want, uprated brakes that fit perfectly under standard wheels or monster brakes that don't, I can do either.
Yes I can also do brackets only and you supply the rest.

i got hold of these a couple of weeks ago, just havent had time to sort anything yet,
@corey are all the mounting hole positions different for the 2 types of porsche calipers. ie do the rs2 mtg brackets also fit the 996 calipers, i just need brackets and disks, i want the largest disk that can fit under 17" rims, i see on etka theres a 345mm s8 disc is this too large? or will the 323mm disk listed have to do.
how much are your brackets/discs? do you have access/work in a cnc shop?

I do not use RS2 brackets but manufacture my own, if you have the wheel in mind, I will make it fit
