New brake setup - Suggestions needed

So, turns out my brakes are fried. A combo of struggling to find discs other than movit's rip off prices and the fact bells might be an issue with machining replacements and now finding out that my calipers have seen better days, I have decided to start again and buy a more mainstream kit that will future proof the purchase of discs etc in the future.

So, can anyone recommend a decent setup for the front around 330mm to go under 17's. Would rather not go stupid costs but I do want the best possible braking performance for my money. £2k would be about my max spend on this.

Suggestions please. My mechanic suggested an AP 330mm setup which has been quoted around £1650+VAT but with an 8 week wait for some reason. Obviously would like to get this sorted in the next fortnight or so. Will be looking at options later but thought I would see if anyone has decent experience of focused big brake setups.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

996.351.425/6 porsche calipers, easy to source Ferrodo Brake pads at a good price, disc brakes from an A8 323x30 (5x112 fitment), Bambridge caliper brackets, sorted

Also if you get a set of nasty calipers with bad seals, service items can be easily found

      Hi Ryan

Yeah I looked at that on the brake threads but I don't wanna use an A8 disc that won't stand up long term to the abuse I will give it. You get what you pay for so I dont mind paying for a proper designed brake kit that compliments all the components as it was designed to.

Sure the Porsche Calipers would be fine but A8 discs wont last how I drive let alone handle the abuse that I give it. It is not a daily driver and ONLY gets used for breakneck speeding around country roads that are surrounded by trees and all manner of obstacles that I don't want to hit.

Oh right sorry. Probably a bit big for me and my 17's. I dont want 18 inch wheels either and ideally looking for new unused parts but thanks for the offer. They must stop pretty well though, they are huge discs!

For that money I would go with GT2 6 pots, AP rotors and custom bells to suit.
The calipers are designed for road use and you never had to worry about availability of replacement pads & rotors

Been using A8 discs for years on track and road and never had an issue. Track use is far more aggressive than anything you can do on the road, so trust me, you'd be more than OK.

GT2 Calipers are looking a touch costly new although I am struggling to find many places that sell them. Leaning more and more towards the AP kit that is bolt on but its an 8 week lead time. Must be somewhere else that can supply them quicker

Make sure the AP set-up is designed for road use (properly dust booted) or you will be spending a LOT of time stripping them down for maintenance.
