    confused about HP2 calipers

This is my first time working on HP2 brakes and I'm a bit confused\concerned.

Should I have wire brackets or clips to hold the pads in? The 2 pads which go onto the pistons seem to only be held in by the light metal clips on the back of them that insert into the pistons?? This seems a bit dodgy to me.

Is there an easy way of getting them apart? I was going to take the angry grinder with cup brush to them (at least to where the pads fit) but I can unbolt the caliper but thought that you'd remocve the sliders and lift the caliper of the carriers ;iike std calipers but I cant see where this comes apart?

    Cheers

Here is the setup on my car:

Does this look normal, I know they're a bit rusty (which is probably normal enough) but does the pad fitment look OK?

The 2 inner brake pads only held by the clips holding inside the pistons.that's all.it's normal since the pistons push against the inner pads toward the
rotors all the way so it's not possible the inner brake pads to be came off.

Thats what I thought, but there's only 1 rivet holding the clip to the back of the pad, if that were to rot through or snap the pad could come out couldn't it?

Seems a lot of faith put in 1 rivet

you're just too paranoid.caliper housing is locking
that pads to its place.i never had problems on 10sets
of HP2 brake pads for last 10years though.
