RS2 Avant brakes? Were they or.....

were they not the same as Porsche 968 's? I seem to remember reading in an issue of either Audi Driver or CAR magazine of several years ago that they were. Am I daft in that assumption?

That's also what I was lead to believe, if that means anything. Was it the 968 CS?

IIRC the stock RS2 brakes use the callipers from a 968CS or 944 Turbo.

The 'Big Red' option are from a 993TT. I know this for sure as I got my Porterfield R4 pads from a porsche specialist.

Tried both (love my job ) and can't fault my current Big Red/Porterfield Combo. The pads make mince meat of the discs though. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to accidentally order another pair.

The RS2 caliper was based on the 968 CS caliper but was not identical. They used a thinner pad (16.5mm vs 18mm) and the colour was red as opposed to black.

The pad difference was an attempt to prevent Audi customers going to Porsche dealers for their parts.

No!!!

In my opinion they are the rear ones.

The mounting ears are different from the front ones.
Which do not have ears at all.
They are bolted to RS2 adapters.

I also used Porsche callipers for my S2.
They looked different.
The front ones do fit. They are from a Porsche 928 S4 or a 944 turbo or a 968 CS

The RS2 brakes are based on 928 S4 / 968 CS with M030 option.
