Rear Brake Calipers to match front

    OK
Can't find anything in the threads here, but I'm sure it must have been done before.
What are the best Porsche upgrade for the rear of an S2. I am in the process of fitting 6 pot Porsche Calipers from a GT3 Cup with 362mm AP discs to the front. They are behind 18" S4 replicas
So what should I match it with at the rear? What caliper will suit our hand brake set-up?
    Any help welcome
    Cheers

Unfortunately, you cannot retain the stock e-brake in the rear if you simply upgrade to porsche calipers back there. For the best fitament, I would use the RS2 rear in some way because it uses what every other porsche uses for the e-brake: drums.
I have porsche brakes going on the back eventually, but i'm ditching the e-brake...i'll be using a line lock, along with dual master cylinders and no more ABS...

Wow. That's a different approach Joe. I would love to know how you get on.
Hmmm. RS2 rear. And they'd be common then????
Thanks for the response. Much appreciated. I need to keep thinking I guess

The main difficulty with the RS2 rear would be the suspension and the hubs...since you have a coupe, this would prove to be even more difficult. I have seen it done...in fact, someone on this forum I believe has done it or is in the process...hopefully he will chime in to give some detail.
Ideally, though, if you have 996 GT3 monoblocks ( ), then you should be looking at another small monoblock for the rear.
One more note on my set-up, is that i'll have a proportioning valve in the cockpit to control the bias to the rear. I forgot to mention that before.

Right. I was hoping that the stock ABS would sort the bias out? Are you saying it will be unable to cope with the increase in braking at the front?
What determines whether you need a bias controller or not. Is it suck it and see? Cheers

Yeah, I guess one could try it without a proportioning valve first, but at about $45 US, I want to do it right the first time. Plus, it's a nice feature for when you are racing and the conditions change. We'll see, it'll be a couple months till i get everything sorted out! =)

yep, but IIRC they are just a larger and heavier single piston caliper. I'm going the porsche route for the weight savings

You can go with either UrS6 rear calipers on a S8 carrier or you can go with a A8 rear caliper on the S8 carrier. Here is a write up I did for Fourtitude.

Below you will see two possible ideas for rear vented rotors. I tried a couple of different calipers and rotors, basically running with ideas I got from other original thinkers on other forums. These are a couple of different combinations using two different rotors, two different calipers, both...

You can have Porsche rear brakes and hand brake.

Lee is working on it. It involves using a Porsche Rear caliper + those tiny brembo hand brake calipers, as you can see in a Ferrari 360 Modena or Porsche Carrera GT

Thanks for all the replies guys. Lee, I'm looking forward to seeing how you go. I was thinking of 330mm discs. Do I need 4 pot calipers or will twin pot calipers be sufficient?
