    Porsche front brake caliper adapters...

has anybody here ever attempted to make their own? The ones being sold retail have HUGE prices. I know back some years ago somebody posted a "How To" in making home grown ones.

now a days there are lots of 3d printing and multi-axis mills available, it is quite easy to design them and 'print' them. look around for local access to machine equipment and get familiar with solidworks.

You can make some "agricultural" spec carriers from some 10mm steel angle.

        Error TELL ME MORE?

I like to find a place that can give me specs and what is recommended when it comes to material to use.

            Thanks..but

I have a question on bracket material...cast iron, plate metal or high strength aluminum? Some of the brackets being sold by certain places look to be Cast Iron.
I rather use something more substantial. No?

Not trying to be offensive, but if you have to ask maybe you shouldn't be making your own safety critical parts?

OEM RS2 carriers are forged steel. Seat Cupra carriers are billet steel. A lot of aftermarket are billet aluminium.

Agree. I was going to say "Yah, that's what the world needs is more amateur brake caliper bracket makers".

Lots of proven, safe, options for front brake brackets. Apikol in the US has lots of options for example.

How expensive is huge? Bambridge's are about £120ish iirc?

You should be able to do a ghetto set with heavy angle and washers as error404 suggests.

Dont get the aluminium wrong, plenty of sheared ones on motorgeek.

I thought the seat ones where about £50 a pair and I'm sure they just need 4 mm taking off each face?

They used to be, then some bellend accountant at VAG must have noticed they were selling too many so they upped the price to some ridiculous amount, around £200 each IIRC.

If your making some from ally you need to use 6082-T6.
I've seen people use 7075 which is a bad idea as it's properties go down the pan when it gets hot.

Well I've decided to go with 2 suppliers for my project. One is Apikol and the other is Creation Motorsport. Right now I'm getting a pair of Cayenne 4 piston axially mounted calipers ready to mount on my A4/B5 Avant. Using S8 rotors but I'm getting flak over it. Some people say the calipers are too big while others say they are exactly the same size as the calipers I have on my A4 now. I went out and checked and sure enough they were right. Apikol says my Calipers are bigger them my A4's. Creation says no. Both make adapter brackets for my need. Hmmm?
