    Caliper bracket sizing and parts

    Hello.
Ive got these 996 calipers and brackets but dont know or cant remember what disc size the brackets are designed for.

Is there any way that I can work out what disc size I need to buy?

Also where can I get bolts from as you can see I only have 2.
Will need a refurbish kit and fitting kit too so if anyone knows a good website that would be great.

    Cheers

One day my luck will change!

It would be good if you could post the PNs up on those calipers just so everyone trying to help you knows exactly what the calipers are. Several times people have thought they had 928 GTS "Big Blacks" that work with 323 x 30 early S8 rotors only to find out that they really had 928 S4 "not so big blacks" that work with something like a 314 x 30 rotor.

If they're 996s then 928 calipers are different, dave, as they'll be 2 piece and not monoblocks

They'll either be 996.351.425/6 (fronts) or 996.352.425/6 (rears).

        99% discs will either be 314x30 A8 or 323x30 A8s.

Only way to tell is to remove the original setup, fit these and measure the centre of the hub to the edge of the calliper, where the disc sits... Or get both from your chosen place and send back the ones that don't fit... OR borrow an old 314 / 323mm off somoeone who's replaced theirs and bingo.

Cheers Rusty, Ill measure them up next time the car is on stands.

Any Idea where I can but all the remaining parts I need?

For my setup with 996.351.425/6, the distance from the centre of the bolt hole (bearing carrier bolt) to the mounting face (where the caliper sits) is approx 29mm for 323mm A8 discs, if its much less than that then you have a 314 setup.

New carrier to hub bolts from Audi (they're fine thread) - I threadlock these and tighten to the correct torque (85Nm IIRC).

New caliper to carrier bolts - Porsche

New Pads - DS2500 or EBC yellowstuff

Discs - Camskill for National drill / grooved or brembo for plain from wherever is cheapest.

Lines - make your own from copper (these are fixed calipers, so you don't need flexis).

Replace the bleed nipples with stainless ones from Brembo (notmal ones will not do, as I found out). Clean all holes with flat bottom M10x1 tap.

Full rebuild kit is available at Bigg Red.

Also need the spring things for the pads but guess they come from the stealer too

Yes, from Porsche at a small fortune each

Or, get secondhand ones and affix them to the pads with some copper high temp instant gasket.

New pad retention pin, spring and clip too.

The anti-squel shims can be found on eurocarparts and are a good price when used with a discount code
