    HP2 brake pad replacement, Audi S6 C4

    Hello

Just replaced the brake pads on my S6 C4. The old pads where glued to the caliper (HP2). The new pads was shipped without glue, and I did not have any decent glue available, so the new pads where installed without any glue. Could this cause any problems (not gluing the pads to the HP2 calipers)?

That most likely was NOT glue but an anti-rattle/squeal liquid (typically red or blue) that sets up like a rubber glue. Factory standards would not have used anything between the pad and the caliper pistons. You'll be fine without anything, unless you get some squeal from the new pads.

What pads did you use? I sourced some Pagid from Brakes International in the UK as well as EBC Red Stuff from Amazon of all places. I haven't installed either yet.

They where glued on. I had to use a chisel to remove them. I also had to use a chisel to remove adhesive residue from the calipers (looked like 2k epoxy adhesive). Maybe a custom installation from previous owner?

Link to pads: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bremsbelage-...item1e766806ca No idea what brand (unmarked).

Adhesive is mentioned in the bentley publishers S6 C4 manual:

      Quote:

      Note:
Before installing new brake pads, thoroughly clean brake caliper housing. Pay special attention to removing adhesive film residue caused by the outer brake pad backing plate.

Pull adhesive backing off outer brake pad backing plates.

Do not damage adhesive layer on backing plate.

My new pads did not contain any adhesive layer -----> the reason for my question....
