    Brake technical info pls!

What sort of temps do front bakes operate upto? Im looking to find some bonding adhesive to 'properly' bond the pad fitting kit to the pads!
Ive found this site:- www.masterbond.com that looks like it could have somewhere some decent bonding adhesive that would suit, but not being too technically minded i cant figure out whats what Can anyone help?
Failing that does anybody know of anything that would do instead?!

      Hi,
If this is for Porsche brakes, I was wondering the same thing. When I got mine, it had the guide plates bonded to the stock pads. I was trying to figure out how, you could get the guides in put glue on and then try to insert the pads. So I talked a Porsche tech who is a friend of mine. They don't bond them to the old guide plates. They use anti-seize between the guide plates and the pads. So I did that and everything seems to be working ok.

Some people don't even use the guide plates. But I figure with the anti-seize on them there are acting like a antivibration plate.

        Greg,
I tossed those anti-vibration plates as soon as I saw them and everything has been fine for me! In my mind, it's just extra weight...but no issues..

I'd say quite hot for the rotors.....

have read about disc temps of up to 1600f.....
..... but then, your normal brake fluid has a bpt of about 550 ish - so I'd guess the back of the pads would be somwhere between as a maximum ????

Fancy changing the discs after the race?
Ok so in theory all i have to do is put anti sieze grease between the pad and the guide? Something like copperslip, or some silicone grease?

Just out of curiosity, is copslip the Queens' english for Antiseize. Just want to know as I have seen the term in other threads.

Most common antiseize is a combination of copper, aluminum and zinc. But for really high temp applications, I use nickel based antiseize. Expensive stuff though.

Yeah, copslip, antisieze, antisqueal, it's all the same stuff - that coppery coloured gloop. Usually does the trick.

@Beetie - mine squeals like a pig stuck in a trap at the moment, but that's more to do with the sprung clips that retain the pads being knackered and having a whole heap of corrosion behind them, meaning the pads aren't moving correctly. Also I took the anti-squeal shims out (the metal plate that sits between the pistons and the back of the pad) temporarily. In fact, they squeal so much that they set the ABS off at very low speed Here's to Saturday and solving that all at the garage meet.
