  • Ur S6 brake pedal pulsing

This isn't an uncommon problem, but nothing that came up in the search quite matches my story (and I've already replaced the usual suspects) so here goes:

    Bomb is new.

Red BRAKE warning light is on.

    Fluids are full.

If I press the brake pedal gently all seems well.

If I press it hard like a panic stop, the pedal is immediately stiff as if the servo has no pressure. After a second, (maybe a bit less than a second) I feel pulsing in the pedal and the servo starts to work. As long as I keep foot pressure on the pedal the servo continues to work.

Slow/gentle adjustments to my foot pressure seem to work fine, but when I let all the way off I have to start over.

My first theory was that the servo is bad, so I've replaced it with a salvage servo from a V8. The replacement servo doesn't feel exactly the same, but it still has that delayed onset and pulsing in the pedal as the servo begins to work.

    Any ideas?

I've seen the suggestions to go vacuum and am considering that, but I'd like to find the actual problem first...

    Thanks!

      Pump or servo.
