SS clad brake lines - Warning

Porsche drivers on the Rennlist in the states have long advised against using SS clad brake lines. Now there have been a number of posts with pics on Audifans of catastrophic failure of SS clad teflon lines.

Seems there are 2 known failure modes. One is the poor crimping of the teflon line to the end pieces. They come loose. Another is apparently that teflon lines are very sensitive to scratches. Grains of sand, etc. can get caught up between the SS mantel and the teflon line. There is can scratch the surface. There are reports of the lines rupturing w/o warning. Result no pedal at all.

Never used SS lines myself. Just passing this along to those who do.

Stainless lines are sensitive to small damage and assembly techniques. There are 2 answers to get high reliability: multiple braid layers and covering them in a heatshrink type material.
