    Handbrake fail

    Wife's 80 Tdi
Brake Wil work but doesn't hold on ratchet
Is it likely the stationary gear type thing or the handle itself
Can the ratchet be bought new?

Rachet not a separate part. Handle only.

Yep. Discovered that when I took another car apart to investigate how it works.
NLA from Audi and other suppliers.
Typical as I bought a new ratchet for type 85 cq on ebay last week but can't get this one
Will have to risk one from my breakers

If its like my old one the edges were rounded where it must have been pulled up without depressing the button. Got the grinder out and fixed it.

            Edges of the ratchet?
Am I right in saying it can be removed from the tower once the pivot had been undone at back of lever?
What about in the lever itself?
            Will try that first
