    Ferodo DS2500 reference

Hi, i'm looking for the DS2500 for S2 girling 60 caliper. I think the reference of the pads is FCP775, but i'm not sure. Anyone know?. Thanks!.

Ring Circuit Supplies on 01525 385888. They import DS2500 to UK. Very helpful when I last called.

Looks like thats the case. I checked the ferodo pad identifier and no S2. Glad to say the RS2 and sport quattro are covered ! Please note they do not do DS2500 but the identifier covers the models they do pads for http://www.elcome.ltd.uk/DSPerf/index.asp

I had no problems with EBC red on standard brakes with black diamond discs. No track days tho'

What models were the original S2 front brakes shared with or were they unique ?

i think they were on the later URQ and some of the coupe Q (later shape) and maybe someof the VW crowd too. They seem to be a popular choice with Corrado upgrades.

I wish they did fit the OEM caliper as the Mintex M1144's I have on the fronts have been a bit of a disappointment and at £95 expensive to boot. The guys at Demon T did say the DS2500 is the best pad of its kind - shame i'll have to wait until i get some decent 4 pots (and a new job for the money too) before I can experience them.

For those with Porsche Calipers it's a stonking Pad, i have them and i think Dan_B has them, very good bite on them.

EBC red are good pads?, i'm going to fit the s2 caliper on my seat ibiza, so i think ebc red (750º) is too much as my car is only 1100kg, green stuff would be better, or not?... What you think?. Where can i buy ebc pads for a good price?. Thanks!.

Ferodo DS2500s are stonkers - Lee has them too. Best pad I've used, no question.
I've also run EBC Reds front and back, and also tried a combination of EBC Red (front) and EBC Green (Back).

If you're putting the S2 Caliper on the Ibiza, I'd go for the Green if I were you. Red is recommended (by EBC) for heavy cars with lots of power - this is so you can get heat in to that pad. EBC themselves say the Green isn't suited for the S2 as you'll go over the Green's temperature range. (I would say the stock Girling calipers aren't suited for the S2 full stop, but that didn't stop Audi putting them on it did it?!).

Personally I found with Red that they had poor cold bite and wooden pedal feel, but once you'd got a bit of heat in them they were good.

Greens have a better cold bite, and they also have a very high friction coefficient so they physically do a lot of work on the disc. Both pads produce remarkably little brake dust (probably my only complaint about the Ferodos is how much black cack they produce).

Where are you based? I phoned EBC and got my nearest stockist. They're not that expensive anyway.

The reason I ask is in case the ferodo pad indicator lists another model with same caliper hence pad.
The no listed is said to work on Q coupe ? the same ?

The following cars use the same pad as the S2:
                      Coupe 20v,
                      Coupe 2.6,2.8
                      90 20v
                      quattro 1987 on
                      quattro 20v
                      200 turbo 1987 on

It's a common pad which makes it strange that ferodo don't support it

Destroyed my greenstuff pads in the first 60 miles after proper bedding in. They melted into a really funny shape...should have kept the pics but that was before this forum existed and they really couldn't take the relentless abuse on my, then, 360mm RS4 disks and 6 pots.

Greenstuffs are not good for a heavy car like the S2 if you really DRIVE IT but should be great on a light vehicle.

People scoffed at the price when I first raved about DS2500 in 2003...now they are all the rage! LOL!

Great pad, expensive to buy but cheaper in the long run as they last for ages. Shame they don't list any for the G60 caliper. Another pad I found similar in performance to the DS2500 is the Pagid RS4-4 pad: Comparable except it eats the disks a bit quicker! This pad will be too harsh for a light car but I found it warmed up quick enough on the S2 at all speeds although many said I was mad for using a track pad!

Ive had no probs with the redstuff pads so far, work well with the small reds ive got. For some reason they actually bite quite well when cold but that might just be me!
The only thing that has put me off ds2500 is when dan had a set at the garage meet and the pads were totally different sizes like thay hadnt finished them correctly...... Other than that ive heard nothing but people rave about them (eh lee!)

Thier website suggests they do support some/all the above and hence standard S2. I think someone should simply ring circuit supplies and check direct from the importer.
They were prepared to slim down the pad at the factory to fit the standard RS2 so I would be surprised if they could not help.
