Yeah I asked about pad skimming too. Quite cheap when I enquired.

One of our customers drives a Leon Cupra R, LCR to the seat crew
Thats has the brembo 4 pots on it. The brakes are good, but not enough. So we fitted Greenstuff pads to it as the customer asked. He isnt that impressed and now that i have chipped it, the pads fade very quickly.

I found Ferodo Premium, the reference is FDB563, it's in this page: http://www.webteile24.de/shop.php but nothing about ds2500
, the reference should be FCP563 but i didn't find it anywhere

one of my friends has a chipped Passat 1.8T and he recently put Greenstuffs on it -he's since been getting bad fade too: he said the braking power was improved, but the fade is now worse. I guess that's what happens when you put a pad with a higher friction coefficient on a system that hasn't got an increased thermal capacity (ie. discs/calipers remain the same size) - the system can't shed quickly enough the extra heat generated by the improved braking? Just a thought, does that make sense?Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

Yes it does Dan. You can try to shortcut the large disk option on a heavy car but it invariably fails to improve the brakes...the heat has to go somehwere!1995 S2 Avant with some upgrades

Could skim the edge off the backing in no time with a mill...would never suggest reducing the thickness of the backing plate...that is a recipe for disaster.1995 S2 Avant with some upgrades

Standard RS2 pads are 16.5mm vs 18mm porsche OEM. Is the backing plate the thinner or simply less pad material. That was the reason I asked as side by side it was the former.Originally posted by LeeCould skim the edge off the backing in no time with a mill...would never suggest reducing the thickness of the backing plate...that is a recipe for disaster.Alastair

On the subject of ds2500 after a long search I've finally tracked done this pad to fit the Alcon brake setup fitted to the Nothelles, original Alcon part no : PNP4473X514 which can be ordered from Alcon with a 6 week delivery time..., or Ferodo FRP1077 (avaiable in DS2/3000 compunds as well as 2500). Getting them from Tim at Circuit supplies £126 delivered who was very helpful and supplied me with pad drawings when I was attempting to identify my setup.
In my Alcon application it's a 16mm deep pad, though just to make it interesting thers's 5 different sizez going from 14mm -> 25mm, this Alcon setup is also used by Prodrive on their Subarus, got some info from the US subaru site where availability & prices are better.Comment

That is a bargain price Eric. Did yo get them yet..I hope they fit OK. My DS2500 have always fitted to the AP 6 pots no problem. Circuit supplies are in my top 10 of useful suppliers.
One note: Do not use DS3000 on a street car. You will have awesome brakes but just make sure you have a large stock of spare disks as they are very aggressive. They shed heat by removing the metal of the disk and shedding incandescent material. Spectacular at night as they go off like catherine wheels so expect your alloys to get ruined too!1995 S2 Avant with some upgrades

So porsche oem pad thickness would be the best when using the 314x30 disc and not the 32mm rs2 disc??Originally posted by algStandard RS2 pads are 16.5mm vs 18mm porsche OEM. Guess so.But you need a brake expert like Lee to give you a definative answer. May depend on caliper type, pad type, backing plate, disc wear etc.Originally posted by porkkisSo porsche oem pad thickness would be the best when using the 314x30 disc and not the 32mm rs2 disc??
My problem arose on standard RS2 brakes. I rang up brake pad supplier and ordered 968Cs pads assuming they would fit OK. They did but I had a lot of noise from pad/disc interference until they wore down a bit (also discs slight wear which helped me).
It was only later whilst reading a post on here I learnt about the pad thickness difference.
This issue is one of the reasons for my plan to go big red on RS2 to allow use of OEM porsche discs and pads without all the hassle. Oh and to get it to stop now Mihnea has worked his magic
