    is this hydralic failure?

1994 urs4 v8 , daily wagon , , very reliable till , today , apply the brakes and i get normal pressure and brakes start to work , thenn da da the pedal continues to the flooor , but the car is not slowing down any quicker, ,,,,
luckily going reasonably slowly, so was able to nurse it home , ,,
no apparent brake fluid loss or leaks [brake or hydralic], and the big red circle with the exclamation came on , but only once,,
pressing the pedal i can hear a clicking from the engine bay , the pedal can now be pushed to the floor , so ,, hydralic failure ? or brake master
other than that it runs like a dream,, no brake binding either,,
    what do you reckon,,

It could be either, try checking how many pumps you get before it goes to the floor
    /solid with the engine off

If it goes to the floor, that kind of indicates a hydraulic failure in the brake lines, and not the booster system, as with the booster system disconnected, you should still get a good pedal, albeit a little further down.

Otherwise booster failure = no brakes at all!

I would have the wheels off and check for leaks. Check all the lines back to the master. Also check bell housing as clutch slave is fed from same reservoir, and a leak here will empty your brake fluid.... resulting in no brakes

Managed to log in for the first time in 2 years yay!
Although the brake and clutch share the same reservoir. The clutch will fail before the brakes as the clutch outlet pipe is higher.

Yes it most definitely is. I'm just 51 now and i'm finding it harder to find the enthusiasm to put the refurbed rear brake callipers new back plates discs ect back on the S6.my excuse, it's been freezing outside for weeks down here hovering around zero all day. Yep with you on the 2 post lift and a garage big enough to house it. When i was a teenager i used to be out there midwinter freezing cold filling the MK3 cortina until 4am.

I think we need some of the creature comforts most of these trademen on here seam to have.
