    996 mono + A8 323mm setup

This subject confuses the hell out of me. Can anyone reasure me on this option of a pair of 996 monoblock calipers with A8 323mm discs using RS2 carriers, is this a bolt on deal or would any of the parts have to be modified, Any ideas

Will bolt on with RS2 carriers without modification if fitted under 17" wheels. You will need to change the flexible brake line as the standard one is too short.

If using 323mm disc rather than 314mm disc you may need to add a 1mm spacer between the carrier and the caliper, otherwise the edge of the disc fouls the sprung plate holding the pads in.

    Hope that helps.

My disks grow by over 3mm when really hot taking some serious track abuse. Make sure you cosnider the size that the disk will be at during max operating temperature (over 700C in my case) when looking at component clearances.

I've been working on a 2mm clearance with my setup. Maybe I should increase it. But then, I don't think I'm as extreme as Lee.

disk growth will be proportional to diameter roughly

            Lee,

Is that 3mm increase on the radius? the diameter? How big is the diameter cold?

Lee's disks are 362mm diameter. So to allow a proportional radial clearance, you could use a 2.7mm on the 323mm setup.

This is a bit of a thread hijack, but where do you guys get your 323x30 A8 rotors from? What can I expect to pay?

Get them from GSF, quite cheap. Got the choice of Brembo or Zimmerman

This value is based on an estimate for the material used for the disks with some head room. I had a look at the disks when they were extremely hot. I jumped out of the car after a series of monster long stops and checked the clearance at the caliper edge where it is at its closest to the caliper (visible through the spokes of my rims) and they looked like they had sufficient clearance. It is difficult to calculate this because of the assumptions required in materials and temperatures but I have absolutely no braking issues (and they fitted perfectly first time )!

And due to the floating nature of my disks they are allowed to freely expand without being overly constrained which causes distorsion in many cases. It is one of the few setups that doesn't 'click' loudly if it is cooling down from high temps: hence no stress on the parts due to the assembly design.

only in the UK I am afraid: German Swedish and French = GSF and they are a distributor for OEM and pattern parts in the UK. We also thave ECP (Euro Car Parts).

THey may ship overseas so it is worth enquiring with them.
