Best street pad for 996.351.425 calipers

    Alright lads,

What do you reckon is the best pad for normal street road use on the Boxster S calipers?

I currently have Ferodo DS 2500 pads and i feel the cold bite is a bit lacking.

    Cheers

Just switched to Textars myself after running DS2500s, haven't really felt a difference yet but most likely because I haven't taken notice. Feels ok though

Ah right ok, i'm intrigued to see what you think once you've had a bit more use out of them. I find the DS2500's brilliant once you get a bit of heat in to them but would love some more of that nite from cold. Surely the OEM pad for these calipers will perform well from cold?

I've been using Brembos pads on my RS2 (big reds) for years now.
Being that my wife drives the car sometimes i wanted like you a prompt reliable brake from start.
I'm happy with Brembo also because they're very convenient pricewise
Should be easy to find the right set for your calipers

Textar, Pagid and Brembo pads are all good for everyday use. Some produce a lot of brake dust, which you may want to avoid if you like clean alloys. I've just replaced the pads in my 18Z's and the pads which came out were Bosch. They look like rebranded Brembo items and they weren't too bad on track and are perfect for street use. I'm trying Hawk HPS5.0 now, but can't comment on them as I've not bedded them in yet.

I can attest to the fact that the Textar pads dust heavily. Weekly struggle to keep the alloys clean. Good stopping power when the weather is not rainy or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

EBC redstuff. Use them on the clio and they're quite good.

Interested to see how the Hawk HP5.0 feel once bedded in, get yourself out there and do some heavy breaking!

Hi had EBC red stuff many years back on an S4 B5 and the seemed to squeal a lot and needed a bit of heat in them too, at least that is my memory of them, quite some time ago now, perhaps compounds have changed.

I have red stuff and as you say they seem to need a bit of warming up. Once warm they work fine and I don't get any squeal. I have 911 turbo rear calipers on the front so I think I notice the lack of bite when cold even more.
