You know the sheet metal thingy's behind the discs - splash guards or brake shields or what ever they are called. Do you really need them? When converting to big brakes - what do you do then? Do the A8 shields bolt up to the S2 uprights?

I figured it couldn't hurt to have them on the car. I trimmed the existing shields to fit the 996 calipers. Just used a pair of tin snipes, filed the rough edges, and repainted the shield. It was rusty and needed it anyway.

I threw mine away as they had rotted away nearly. I do have 2 brand new ones sitting at work. 25 quid each or something IIRC. Think that the RS2 scope things might be a good idea tho.

Those things are the work of the devil - I hate them... Used to get stone chips wedged between the shield and the disc on some gravely B-roads here.Paul Nugent
