G60 Calipers onto Mk2 Golf GTI

Sometime soon I'll be swapping my brakes over from standard to the usual upgrade of 996 calipers with A8 314mm discs and this means I'll have a pair of G60s kicking around in the garage.

A mate at work has a rather nice Mk2 Golf GTI and he'd be interested in using these calipers to upgrade his own brakes. I'm sure I've read that they go onto Golfs etc but does anyone know what discs and hoses he is going to need to put it all together?

Finally, what sort of money are secondhand G60s worth? I don't want much for them but I don't want to be giving them away.

i believe that you need the hub and carrier from an audi to fit to the golf,if its a 16v it may be the right fitment anyway,i did this conversion about 10 yrs back so its a bit cloudy now...

g60 disc,or vr6 280mm disc, should work fine, but if he runs 239mm disc now he has to buy a new lumb/hub(the thing the disc and caliper are mounted on),from either g60 or 16v with 256mm disc.price about 100 pounds in denmark but in england?????

i know that it's a fairly common swap onto corrados, both G60 (engine ) and vr6. most guys use the stock rotors but there's a little overlap somwhere (pads hang over the edge of the rotor on the ends i think) i have heard recently that there is some sort of spacer, and it is a VAG part too, that cures that problem but i really don't know.

if your friend has the 10.1" brakes on the gti, all he needs is corrado g60 rotors ans your calipers and carriers....straight bolt in affair. if its the 9.4" brakes then i'm pretty sure he's gotta swap the steering knuckles with a mk2 or 3 with 10.1" brakes. brake lines should go right on too.

another thing with the 9.4" brakes, he'll be pushing a hell of a lot more fluid with the g60 brakes, may need a bigger MC. might not be the case with the 10.1s

ahh crap!!! just read the above message, same thing as me, just less words!
