    Hi. I've bbe reading this thread with some interest lateyly: I'm teetering on the edge of S2 ownership (got a 7A CQ20V atm) and am off to look at a few S2's over the weekend. The brake upgrade is something I'm going to factor in the purchase price. About how much does it cost to upgrade to the 996 monoblocks, and turned A8 discs, (assuming I manage to get my oily-mitts on a pair of calipers off flea-bay and do the work myself)?

    Also, do you just leave the stock calipers on the back, or does it make sense to re-place them with the G60's off the front? Clueless me, like

        All depends on your caliper choice :mischeif:

            Greetings,

            I have just finished collecting all the bits for my conversion, so thought I would share the info and costs as a rough guide. I have decided to follow JAS11N and his bro and squeeze the Porsche calipers under the standard 16" Avus wheels, hence my choice of some of the parts listed below (Discs and carriers). Now just gotta bolt it all together

            Brembo Porsche 996 'Monoblocks' and pads: (2nd hand)....£300
            Audi A8 314x30 Discs by Zimmerman: (GSF)...................£79.84 (inc P&P)
            Seat carriers - 2 x 6KL 615 421: (SEAT)........................£35.77
            Carrier Bolts - 4 x "N 100 650 02": (VAGparts) }
            Caliper Bolts - 4 x "N 100 880 03": (VAGparts) }...........£13.49 (inc P&P)
            RS2 Hard brake line (VAG Parts): (VAGparts)..................£13.44

            TOTAL £442.54

            Cheers n

            Si

              You've got to be kidding me guys. 1.5 pitch and 10.9 grade, possibly 12.9 (most likely no more than 8.8!). Those aren't impossible to find! First search on altavista:

              Ok, maybe they aren't common - but they're cheaper and most likely avaliable in a higher grade (if you'd like that) than from the stealer... For sure...

                I can't see any on that linky
                Audi bolts are the right grade, the right blue / green coating, the exact length and
                readily avaiable from your local stealer
