HELP! changing disk hats! or not?

    Hi all
I realy look for help on this...
Today I was changing the front disks and for my horror, as I suspected, my new disks hat was diferent, from original - 5mm smaler then original.

(got it fromo PHG Automotive on eBay as for Audi RS2 322mm)

I was about to change the hats. The original hat can be unbolt easly, but I stop on doing it before confirm some issues:

    - does someone made the procedure?
    - Any idea of torque values, how much do I tight those small bolts
    on hat? the unbolt easly...
    - do I need to calibrate the disk?

...or will be better to try to sell the disks? and get from audi.

    thanx

I would go back to the seller first and ask their opinion, i certainly wouldn't personally want to remove the hats and put the old ones on, the only thing you can do to see if they fit ok is to mount them and put the wheel back on and check for clearance 5mm is lot out,

        hi
I already cam at this point :-) I got the disks in EBay from a German company (I am at Portugal) this was about 2 month or more, but only today I started to mount them. the problem is not the wheel clearance... 5mm I could get a spacer or so, the problem is that you fit teh disk ok but then the brake body unit (dont know the name) that hold the pads doesnt fit correctly, it fits ok in disk to, but then I cant get the screws all way to attach the brake body unit since the disk off set it about 5mm before the original screw holes.

          Hi Vitor
As I told you b4 on yahoo forum 993tt discs will not fit rs2.
1.You will have to use your huts from rs2 (which are special for our cars) and mount them onto your new discs then get yourdiscs balanced just to be sure
          OR
          2. Buy discs from audi stealer.
          OR
          3. Buy discs for porsche 928gts but with no holes ,direct fit.

            hi robo
Yes I know... unfortunently I already got the disks, didnt confirm before buythem about the hat offset. thought that the weird/rariness issues on rs2 where the wheels only.

I can manage a house service that can calibrate the disks, my question that holds me to change the hats is how mouch strengt do I apply on all that small bolts that attach the hat. tightem much? less? I have a dyno wrech, if only know +/- the torque to apply on those bolts.

            thanx

              thanx[/QUOTE]

Personaly I would not use tourqe wrench, just do it by hand and make sure is sucure.
I would tighten it across like you bolt your spare wheel , it will be Ok.

What was the problem you mentioned before that you cannot apply the hat to the disk?

                    Hello Billman

I can remove my actual Hat and apply it to new disk. My fear is:

1 - I am not sure about the strength I will use to right all those little bolts, "robo" said that is like tightening the weels (RS2 wheels 110nm as in manual), so will be wise to tight all those 10 bolts at 100nm+/-?
I understand that the disks suffer lot of strength and heat so I am a bit affraid of tightening my self, the new disks on old hats, with to much strength or to lose. I dont want the disks get lose on nunning in hightway for example, or brake the bolts

2 - Is the calibration of the disks, all the disk and hat seems to be very precise, but on this issue I think I can manage here localy, there is near to me a service house that calibrate mechanical parts.

maybe all this "fears" are a bit overreaction of me, maybe this a simple procedure, just tight like weels and assemble them...
