Plea to Family Album owners

Hi folks, as per my earlier thread, I have lost my dash illumination. Having checked the fuses, I have come to the conclusion that there must be a power regulator of some sort on the dash (usually a 3 legged tranny), to control the illumination level.

Could somwone please look this up and maybe give me a part number, as I will need to order a new one before pulling the dash apart.

The voltage regulator is a common electronic component readily available from RS components or Maplin. There's no need to buy this from the dealer. Dead easy too test before buying a replacement.

Interesting, we can't mention the name of the copyrighted software, but it's okay to post screen dumps from the software in question? How can this be?

That seems like a conflict of interests to me. My opinion is not intended to be argumentative in any way.

Nuvo, the images can be sourced from a Russian website that has the software loaded, altho i agree its a strange one how its posted up with images but not quoted. Altho word search will find the name, but not the image

The pic isn't from E**A. It looks like one of the manuals you can buy online from erWin. That material is probably copywrited too.. It's always going to be an issue, however, if we don't take the piss and print volumes of info and openly send copies of 'the family album' to each other, I can't imagine it will upset the powers that be...

What's really interesting is that VW/Audi hasn't sent a letter....

to the people who run this site to cease & desist with posting diagrams and such of their products like they do in the States! With all this talk of E*** and family album (which is no longer used), I am shocked it hasn't happened yet!
Next time to those in the know...edit out any reference too the said above. Use something else.

Yes they could, although they seldom are. Not that this really matters as the Russian site is illegal, albeit useful. I agree on word search versus image search.

I am aware of that,and you've raised an excellent point, it's copied from an erWin PDF which is also copyright. You can see the document watermark in the back ground which states that copying in whole or in part is not permitted unless authorised by Audi AG.

You might want to edit your post to remove the reference to the name of the aforementioned software.

You'd be better off testing it first to confirm whether or not the device is at fault.
I can't remember the device part number off hand I'm afraid.
