    Electrical Light problem

    O.K i have a very weird problem.

The drivers side rear brake light blew, so off i went to halfords bought some Bosch 382 bulbs as a replacement.

When i tried it the autocheck says o.k but then every time i pressed the brake pedal i got a big bulb out symbol, So i thought, o.k i'll put bulb in the passenger side, and viola well so i thought.

Got in the car this morning and guess what? yep big bulb out symbol everytime i press the brake pedal.

no it gets weirder, when i got to work car park, i could see that my front sidelights are coming on everytime i press the brake pedal!!!! WTF!

    Any ideas?

Might be worth putting a 380 instead of a 382. Coupe has twin filament lamps for stop/tail. Putting a single filament 382 in would mean everytime press the brakes the circuit backfeeds and lights up the side lights.

Unless of course you made a typo and meant 380 in the first place. In that case it will be a knackered bulb holder.

Cheers mate, that will teach me to trust the Halfrauds guide.

Is there a list anywhere of the Coupe's bulb types anywhere?

Sounds like an earthing problem to me too, your getting earth loops in the wrong place. clean the connectors off and maybe re terminate the connectors onto the bulb holders. I had to do this on mine to solve the problem

I'm betting on the bulb type just checked PIAA site and it's listed as a 380 bulb.

Let you know in a short while.

                  Thanks Ben, Mike

i've got the manual but it doesn't list the bulbs by numbers as sold in many a shop.

Changed the bulbs to 380 and all working, Halfrauds guide has Audi Coupe Quattro 1991-1996 listed as 382 but the Coupe Quattro up to 87 as 380.
