    Airbag warning light

Since disconnecting my battery for a while, to tidy up my radio wiring, the airbag warning light now stays on for about 1 minute after start up before going out. Previously it only stayed on for about 6 seconds. Is this something that needs to reset with VAG Com or possibly something else?

Mine does the same. Stays on for about 15-20 seconds then goes out.............Hopefully nothing too serious.

This is normal - the airbag controller has a backup battery - it stores a fault if you dis the main battery. VAGCOM clears this no problem.

Can pulling the moteur fuse clear this warning light, despite the airbag controllers back up battery?

Sadly no. My airbag light has been on (permanently) for about 3 months. When it was last cleared using VAGCOM the error was something like " airbag resistance too low ". I have read threads on another forum about inserting another resistor into the circuit but this looks dodgy to me.....

AAH - no the MOTOR fuse is just for the Motronic ECU.

James - bummer - that sounds expensive to get fixed... I too would be worried about fooking about with resistance values on a device which is designed to save your life !

Was the code possibly airbag resistance too high? This is common fault when the airbag slip ring (clock spring) is on it's way out.

my airbag had the same issue. It read intermittent(something),resistance too high.I had my mechanic check all plugs,he said everything was fine, but he got the red light even after multiple resets.I eventually took the lamp out,i got my VWTool running and i did a reset on my own a week later, and the airbag light now works! It shuts off 3-4 sec after ignition is on!I didnt do anything to search for the problem.I just resetted the damn thing!
                    perfect!

who knows?Maybe it needs to be reset 100 times to make it work!
                    cheers
