    Digital Clock Display...

... in my dash has gone haywire. Every now and then, the clock display is normal (rare), next the display either has a max. display (88:88) or a mixture of max display and dashes (88:-8, --:88, --:--, --:8- etc).

What causes this? When the display comes back to normal (about once a month) the time is still correct. I've now replaced the voltage regulator behind the cluster, but now the clock hasn't shown a normal display for about a month now! May be unrelated though .

Has anyone here experienced this? Could the clock itself be faulty? Car is a 1991 100 QT Avant, but clock is same part number as regular type 89 / B4 cars.
