How does the rev counter get its feed, is it ecu fed or from the coil?

i believe the feed is from the ecu,i think s2.cental has schematics for the ecu pin outs... -
pin 40 on aby and i believe pin 6 on 3b can somebody ok that !Comment

the car will have home made dash board eventually and i want a 100mm vdo rev counter just need to know which one and how it works. any ideas?1982 UR Quattro with added 3B power!Comment
