So time for my stupid question

the windows have always worked intermittently now wont work at all
    I have the relay out ( 363 ) part no 4A0 959 257
Are there any other relays that would work or does it have to be that particular part no.
    Thanks
    The car is 1996
Ideally it should be the same however you can fit an earlier relay with a few wiring mods. Have a read here http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...ghlight=window , advantage of an early relay is you gain the one touch close function.

I think there is also thermal fuses in the circuit to cut power if the window gets stuck. I bet they are the cause of intermittent operation on warm days.

Tried several times now over a course of 4 hours!

The RS2 has had an intermittent fault on the windows for about 18 months now. Normlally when it;s hot and you wanna wind them down!!!!!!!!!!

Or when it rains and you wanna wind them up!!!!!!!!!!!

The 80q Avant hasn't had that problem at all, but now they've just stuck down which is a real pita.
Looks like a call to 4 ring spares tomorrow.
The thought of stealers prices don't do much for me, not when I need 2 of the sodding things!

try your windows again, its an intermittent problem maybe they will wind up before they die again.

When mine get stuck in down position i leave the car for 15 minutes then they work again for 5.

still need a relay, ive stripped the relay and see no dry joins, but my eye sight isnt the best when it comes to electionics..

Looks like I've got 2 duff relays. Mine says 363 on it. That's [resuming I'm looking at the right one cos it's ******ed on the RS2 and the 80Q Avant now, so I can't even test the one on the other! At least the windows are in the closed position on the RS2!

Ahh, looks like I've got the same problem! Just spent 20 minutes looking at the fuse box thinking where the ****** hell the fuses / relays for the windows is hiding and reading the list on the fuse box lid about 10 times over and still not seeing it!!

Have dumped the car at the unit now as the windows are stuck in the down position so can't even park it up on the drive.
I'll have to have a look on Monday so let's hope it is just the relay, although at £147 for a new one, I hope it isn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
