    thanks for the answere Mihnea

So the best thing would be to convert the 3b setup to a ABY/ADU ignition. But this will ofcourse costs a lot more money and time.

MSD, does also make a special ignition for turbocharged cars, this system has the ability to retard the timing of the ignition. Will this help in anyway? link

Erik, no point using the turbo special ignition, there will be no need to retard anything once we get the car mapped properly, turbo retard is good mainly when converting a NA engine to turbo and when no one can remap the ignition properly to handle boost...

      HTH,

      Mihnea

PS: yes, it would definitely be much better/safer to upgrade the ECU/wiring/ignition to ABY/ADU. Any ECU can do, even an AAN in case you get one cheap...

Which parts are needed to change from a 3b ignition to an aby ignition besides ECU, cable and coils?

Coil packs can be converted to 1.8Ts as well, which works out cheaper by the way

How hard is it to fit the wireloom and the other parts?

Is there maybe a guide how to a aby/adu ignition in a 3b

Am I correct that you will also need these parts (POS units?):

Erik, if you convert to 1.8T coil packs, you won't need any POS power output stages.

Ok thanks Mihnea, I will read the thread about it so I know what to do.

Is it much effort to fit the new ecu and wireloom?

You can ask Jaap, he did mine. He's done like 5 of those conversions now.

Am I right that, when you change to ABY/ADU ignition the IM of a 3b will not fit? Because the ABY/ADY valvecover is much higher?

I probably just bought a rs2 ecu and a rs2 wireloom. But I am not sure which parts I need more. I also dont know all english names . I found most pictures I hope someone can tell me which I need. I was thinking of going for the 1.8t coilpacks, Mihnea told me that will be cheaper and that I need less ABY/ADU parts:
                          1

                          2

                          3

                          4

                          5 I probably bought

                          6 I probably bought

Erik, if you do the 1.8T coil conversion, you'll only need the ABY wiring loom, ECU and a full 1.8T coil pack kit which we could supply to you...

No need for the engine speed sensor or crank position sensor by the way, the stock 3B ones work perfect...

                            Cheers,
